We had our regular youth training meeting. We planned the games, lesson, and craft!
And then….
Some of the guys surfed!
One practiced guitar..some played with Jenga blocks…A couple of them watched part of the book of Matthew on the computer.
This is Casafé.
This is the Faith House.
God continually reminds me of His Faithfulness every time we see the sun set out front of Casafé! He is faithful in all He does and we must remember to have faith in Him in all we do!
I put up some lights, got a small tree and decorated Casafé! I am determined to make this place feel like Christmas….even if I am sweating like crazy while I listen to “Let it Snow“!! haha
We had a little Christmas party for the youth that help with Kids Club to celebrate and say thank you to them for their faithful help.
Casafé also got a nice Christmas gift: 6 new boogie boards! Which is so great – because the old ones we have are pretty broken. God always provides!!
I have 3 friends from South Carolina that are here visiting and they were so kind to ask me for a list of things for Casafé: Ding repair, Spanish Bibles, devotional books, a volley ball and much more! They bought stuff, other people donated, and they packed it into their suit cases and brought it down to bless Casafé along with more stuff for other ministries here!
What a blessing!! God always provides in crazy cool ways! Thanks God! Thanks everyone who gave so generously!
I am looking forward to spending a few days with these amazing ladies!
The other day while I was working on the project out back with the team that was here some of the youth came over. One of them was eager to finish a painting project he had started, so we had a little improv computer class learning to use the paint program.
Here is some of the work from the boys!
*note what it says on the house! 😉
I don’t think I had ever seen them sit that still for that long!!!
This past week we had a short term mission team from a Troy, Ohio in the States come down to serve in Jacó. They helped Casafé by putting a bathroom in the shed out back. And walls so that the rain doesn’t get in! It was so great to have them here and they were such a blessing.
Work project…
We also did a youth event with them Saturday afternoon, after helping out with kids club in the morning. We played some games and had snacks and a time of sharing. Ty, one of the guys from the team shared about Paul and how he left his past behind and moved forward in what God had for him, sharing the gospel with others. After Ty shared it was really cool to hear from a couple of ‘our boys’ share parts of their stories, and how God has been working in them in the last few years. God is doing an amazing redeeming work in these youths’ lives.
They took Emily and I out for dinner and gelato the last night before they left!
“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim you love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.” ~ Psalm 92:1-2
Leni, from Germany, volunteered with Casafé for 3 weeks! She helped out with English classes, youth training, and many other things around the house. She was also involved with another ministry here in Jacó serving with them.
Leni, Emily, Krissia, and I 🙂
I believe you cannot give what you don’t have. If you are not growing in your walk spiritually, how can you disciple others to grow in theirs. When we have people come here to volunteer, my first goal for them is that they grow deeper in their walk with the Lord. I always pray that God would do a transforming work in every person that comes to Casafé – volunteers included! It was really neat to see Leni grow in her walk with the Lord as she was serving here.
Thanks Leni for coming and being open to what God has for you!

The other day some of the boys came over and went boogie boarding…then they came and asked if they could borrow a shovel. Then next thing I know…one of the guys comes to me and asks me if I wanna take some pictures of someone on the beach…
This is basically what I came home to today, after leaving for a couple hours to do a Bible study with one of “my girls” at a local bakery, ….and Emily also on the lawn tutoring another girl in math. And one of the guys was studying inside too!
Emily put this picture on WhatsApp a few hours later with this caption: “I Love this place!”
